The Death of a Hajji

Standard

Got this forward from Shaykh Abdurrahman Al-Hejazy

Dear brothers and sisters in Islam,
Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatu Allah wa Barakatuh,

Today (Arafah) at 3:00pm Mecca time, and while he was on the mountain of Arafah, in his white Ihrah cloths, our beloved, prominent, and most respected Sheikh Mohammad Rashad (Imam of Masjid Assalam) gave his last breath… Inna lillah wa Inna elaihi Rajioon.

He called me 3 hours before his departure to Mecca, showing his gratitude for establishing the condensed Sunday courses at Masjid Assalam. I told him: “in chaa Allah, when you come back, we will work together to make even more”. With a very emotional tone he started to cry and said: “Masjid Assalam is a trust on your shoulders!”.

His daughter has passed away last Ramadan, and he gave the best example of a patient father. Another very close relative of him passed away two weeks ago in Ottawa, and he was very patient. Now, Allah took his blessed soul on the mountain of Arafah while in his while Ihram cloths… May Allah grant him Maghfirah, Rahmah, forgiveness and mercy.

May Allah grant Him Jannat Alferdous. May Allah give him reward for every Muslim who pray in Masjid Assalam and for every Muslim who learned from him and from his teachings and Khutbahs. May Allah escalate his rank in Jannah, and give him the glad tiding of being close to the prophet. Ameen.

Today, Ottawa has lost one of the most prominent figures in the Islamic Da’wah and work. May Allah grant us and his family patience, and give us a substitute for this real calamity befalling us.

Brothers and sister, please keep Sheikh Mohammad Rashad in you most sincere Duaa.

Abdurrahman

SubhanAllah after going through various hardships, it seems like Allah rewarded him– allowing him to die in such an honorable act– on the mount of Arafah!! May Allah grant him nothing less than jannatul Firdous!

Take a Break Yo

Standard

Bismillah,

You’ve been sitting down for a good 3 hours, doing some chem, bio, maybe physics, and of course some history!

You look at the time, and realize you need a break. What better break than a salah break?!!

Looking down at those socks stripped in pink, you decide to take a big step, and throw them off. You need to wake up– you need cold water on those toes.

Entering the bathroom turning of the faucet and to add to the dramatic affect, you turn on the nice cold water!

You try to imitate those Acne commercials but end up drenching yourself 🙂

Go back to your room and see that stack of ‘homework’ even though you always end up doing it at school :p.

Take out some 3utr, and make your mat smell that distinct Meccah store smell…

Stand there, and take one last glance at that pile of work.

Allahu Akbaar.

Verily he is Greater than anything else. Place my head smelling that beautiful aroma, i never wanna get back up. I lose myself with the ongoing duaa’s.

Now, isn’t salah the berfect break 🙂

Alhamdulilah for such an amazing blessing!! And this is way better than KitKat 😉 [cuz they usually tell you to take a break and eat KitKat ;)]

The Prophet used to enjoy it, and recite surah after surah and not get tired. Man, your standing in front of your Lord, make each one worth it.

It is the ease your heart is aching for (read my below post).

At Last!!

Standard

Bismillah,

Some days you wake up, total pain over taking your body. You slept late at night, had many things to finish. You had some issues occupying your mind, too much to think of, no breaks no rest.

ألا بذكر الله تطمئن القلوب

Truly, it is by the Remembrance of Allah that hearts find rest.” [Qur’an, 13.28]

So what does this word, tam’ninah mean? Total rest, sceren, tranquility, peace.

What does thikr (remembrance) mean? Does it mean the usual 33 alhamdulilah’s after salat althuhr with the Imam? No, if we look at the deep meaning of what thikr mean, it means more than just the action of the tongue, it’s the action with the heart. Meaning? Your thinking, ok when you work out, your arms get tired, your legs get wobbly, but this is not the case of our hearts.

Look at this duaa; “Oh flipper of the hearts, maintain my heart upon your religion”

Now look at this; “Our Lord! Let not our hearts deviate (from the truth) after You have guided us, and grant us mercy from yourself. Truly, You are the Bestower.”

Have you ever read this;

“Truly, what is lawful is evident, and what is unlawful is evident, and in between the two are matters which are doubtful which many people do not know. He who guards against doubtful things keeps his religion and honour blameless, and he who indulges in doubtful things indulges in fact in unlawful things, just as a shepherd who pastures his flock round a preserve will soon pasture them in it. Beware, every king has a preserve, and the things Allah has declared unlawful are His preserves. Beware, in the body there is a flesh; if it is sound, the whole body is sound, and if it is corrupt, the whole body is corrupt, and behold, it is the heart.”

Lastly this is a bit different; And the heart of the mother of Mûsa (Moses) became empty [from every thought, except the thought of Mûsa (Moses)]. She was very near to disclose his (case, i.e. the child is her son), had We not strengthened her heart (with Faith), so that she might remain as one of the believers.” [Surat AlQasas 10]

So, what does this all mean. Our heart is a delicate organ that has been placed and secured behind our rib cage. It is where all our emotions come from. When sometimes you are having a rough time, your heart aches right? What do you do? Cry, eat ice cream, scream, write on your blog, etc. Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala is our Creator, who knows us better. He created our hearts this delicate for a reason… to return and go back to Him. In the end, I can complain to my friend for 3 hours and 23 minutes, what is she going to do, hug me? No, i want my heart to be at ease, i want to feel serene. How though?

ألا بذكر الله تطمئن القلوب

Truly, it is by the Remembrance of Allah that hearts find rest.” [Qur’an, 13.28]

🙂 Wallahi, the blessing of having the heart at rest is one of the greatest things ever! So why did I bring up prophet’s Musa’s mom into this? She was a legend subhanAllah. Look at the eloquence of the quran — ” and we have tied her heart ” Physically, the only way to capture something, or calm it and keep it in place is to tie it down. Right? Her heart was a bit shaky of course, she was sorta throwing her kid in a river! But Allah states that if had not assured her heart, she would not have been of the believers. Allahu Akbar!!

I swear, i have a point (somewhere). The remembrance of Allah, is something so special, that He has chosen a certain amount of people to be the ones who do it. When you complain or whin, or ask your mom or daddy, they get annoyed after a while– And that is why we have the Quran, the Salah. It’s there for a reason, my sisters and brothers in Islam.

The heart can be manipulated so easily, hence we constantly ask it to be upon the straight path. The heart, if disrupted, it takes the rest of us down. It is like the powerhouse of the body.

So next time, your heart aches, you feel like crying, do so– but towards none other than Allah jalla jalaluhu. He loves when you ask… so why not :). This is a crucial matter, the day of Arafah is approaching us (tomorrow!) take advantage, and you will truly find your heart, at total ease.

😀 At Last, my heart is at Ease!
