Today, i was reminded with a beautiful reminder and thought i would share:
And when you are greeted with a greeting, greet [in return] with one better than it or [at least] return it [in a like manner]. Indeed, Allah is ever, over all things, an Accountant. 4:86
Hmm?
Well, today I talked to my friend, and as we began with our salams, I replied with something lesser then what she had began.
She began with As-Salaamu ‘Alaikum wa Rahmatullah
And i replied: Wa alaykum asalam
So my point? Well, the sister reminded me of this ayah, afraid that with me not completing, or replying the same length of the salam she sent to me, that i would be disobeying a command.
Allahu Akbar! It was so heart warming to be reminded of simple daily things. Then she shared the prophet alayhi asalam’s hadith:
Abu Hurairah reported that βa man passed by the messenger (Sal Allahu Alayhi wa Sallam) and said Assalam Alaykum, The messenger (Sal Allahu Alayhi wa Sallam) said that for that there are 10 rewards, to say Assalam Alaykum Warahmatullah is 20 rewards, and to say Assalam Alaykum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuhu is 30 rewards.β
[Sahih Bukhari No. 986, Timidhi No. 2689, Musnad Ahmad bin Hanbal No. 19,446]
It got me thinking. Look at how beautiful islam is subhanAllah. The prophet reminded this companion of the characteristics of the ta7iyah, but telling him the number of reward he would get in each stage of saying the salams. Like wow! subhanAllah!
On the authority of Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings upon him) said,”The rights of the Muslim on the Muslim are six.“People present there asked, “What are they, Messenger of Allah?” He replied,”When you meet him, salute him“(Muslim).
The beauty of having our rights fulfilled even in the salutes! Indeed Allah is the greatest!
I hope this was of some benefit! Insha’Allah π (even though i didn’t say much.. the hadith’s themself are enough!)
